Mr. Moss were formed during the peak of the electro-swing boom, a time when the genre was firmly establishing itself on the European club and festival scene. The first impulse came around 2018, when Michal Dvořáček attended an Electro Swing Fever party in Prague together with drummer Mario Škaloud and bassist Jan Škaloud, then members of the band ENTER. The atmosphere of these nights—combining electronics, swing, and dance energy—became a key inspiration and the catalyst for founding a new project.
 

Around this time, the first Mr. Moss songs began to take shape. The debut album was largely authored by Michal Dvořáček, who collaborated with producer Petr Kořínek. From the very beginning, the lyrics were written in English with the aim of reaching an international audience, and their author was the band’s longtime friend Aleš Staněk. From the outset, the vision was clear: to create an energetic party band that works best live and can get audiences moving. This philosophy remains central to Mr. Moss to this day.
 

As the band evolved, its sound naturally expanded. Russian-born guitarist Ramil Gasanov joined the lineup, bringing a strong Balkan and Gypsy musical flavor to Mr. Moss. His style became an important part of the band’s character, adding further layers and wildness to the originally swing-electronic foundation. Ramil is also the author of the popular song Honza Jde, which stands out among the band’s predominantly English lyrics by combining English, German, and Czech.
 

A turning point in the history of Mr. Moss was the arrival of American singer Nicole Fay Kupková. Nicole gradually took on the main role not only as frontwoman but also as lyricist and occasionally composer. Her arrival marked a significant shift in both themes and emotional depth—alongside party energy, more serious, personal, and socially oriented topics began to emerge. This shift is clearly audible in the band’s music.

The first song Nicole wrote for Mr. Moss was High, which later became the title track of the debut album. High clearly defined the band’s new direction and introduced Nicole’s voice and songwriting style to audiences. Nicole openly identifies as a feminist, which naturally translates into Mr. Moss’s lyrics—confident, provocative, and often ironic, yet also personal and emotional.
 

After the release of the debut album, the songwriting process became more collective. Contributions came from Michal Dvořáček, Nicole Fay Kupková, and trumpeter František Vaníček, who was a key part of the band’s sound until his departure in 2024. Over the years, the horn section underwent several changes; former members include saxophonist Aleš Tichý, trumpeter František Vaníček, and saxophonist Milan Petira. Currently, Mr. Moss collaborate with regular guest musicians—saxophonist Vojtěch Horyna and trumpeter Kryštof Sedílek—who help shape both their live and studio sound.
 

The band’s visual identity is based on elegant minimalism, occasionally disrupted by circus-like or theatrical elements. The Mr. Moss image plays with contrasts between sophistication and exaggeration, between stylistic purity and light extravagance, reflecting their musical world at the intersection of swing, rock, electro, and theatrical showmanship.
 

Mr. Moss have gradually built a strong fan base not only in the Czech Republic but especially in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany—markets where electro swing has long enjoyed a dedicated audience. The band aims to reach and eventually dominate a broader European scene, positioning itself as an international project with a clear vision, a distinctive sound, and a strong stage identity.
 

Despite ongoing evolution, lineup changes, and thematic shifts, the core DNA of Mr. Moss remains the same: creating music that works as a party, as a show, and as an intense live experience—full of energy, style, and a clear point of view.
