FREEDOM (2022)

Freedom was born from two suffocating forces colliding at once: a society that constantly pressures you to grow up, conform, and become “acceptable,” and the COVID quarantine, which turned that pressure into literal confinement. It’s a song about losing space — physical, mental, and emotional — and fighting back against it.

The lyrics move between escape and collapse. Fantasy becomes a survival mechanism, a place where identity is fluid and freedom still exists, until reality breaks in with rules, expectations, and the demand to fit the norm. Childhood imagination gives way to decay, frustration, and rage, while the chorus stands firm as an act of rebellion: you can’t take my freedom.

The music video pushes the idea to its extreme. Abduction becomes a metaphor for control, the escape a desperate grasp for autonomy — and the realization that there is no way out turns freedom into an all‑or‑nothing choice. The ending is intentionally brutal: a final refusal to live without agency. Freedom isn’t comfortable, hopeful, or reassuring. It’s confrontational. It asks how much of ourselves we’re expected to give up to belong — and what happens when we refuse.

Lyrics

Baby, I would rather be
All alone and lost at sea
Then stuck in the shadow
The water is shallow
And still you manage
To drown me

I lived in a fantasy
In another galaxy
Where I can play make-believe
And be whoever I want to be
But now you've got me torn
Saying that I need to conform
That I need to be something more
Something more that fits the norm

And I, I-
Don't wanna be that way
I, I-
Just want to be a kid at play
I, I-
Am starting to decay
Because you've got me dead inside
Wishing that I could fly away

Hey! You can't take my freedom
You can't tame me, I am free

I feel I've lost my soul
My mind is out of control
Your rules have taken a toll
On everything that once felt whole
This is my den of doubt
These walls are making me ill
Fuck this quarantine
Time's running out, but I'm standing still

Who’s Behind the Music?

The lyrics and melody were created by Nicole Fay Kupková, with arrangements and production refined by František Vaníček and Michal Dvoráček. The final mix was done by Petr Kořínek.

And I, I-
Don't wanna be that way
I, I-
Just want to be a kid at play
I, I-
Am starting to decay
Because you've got me dead inside
Wishing that I could fly away

Hey! You can't take my freedom
You can't tame me, I am free

I lived in a fantasy
You made me see reality
Where, in fact, noone's free
Nothing is what is seems

You took my dignity
With it, my sanity
You even crushed my dreams
Someone help me, I can't breathe
